Father

“It is a huge shock when you are thrown into the stressful, unknown and unexpected world of special needs with your first child. Footsteps made sense of it all and immediately saw the potential in my daughter that many couldn’t and with Sheena’s help and early intervention she has reached her full potential and grown into the successful and professional person she is today.”

Parent review: “My son started with Sheena at age 6, he was very anxious and was under performing in class; he was slower than his peers and it was clearly beginning to bother him. Sheena was quick to identify his areas of weakness, made simple yet highly effective suggestions to assist with his processing and general behaviour. He loved his bi-weekly visits and could clearly see the benefits of each activity he was asked to do with Sheena and at home. Sheena recommended we see a Behavioural Optometrist to help with his tracking and also used Therapeutic Listening to aid with his anxiety and reduce the level of distraction. Sheena is efficient, effective and clearly loves what she does; I have a much happier boy who is learning to cope and is able to deal with daily scenarios in a more appropriate way, thanks so much Sheena!”

ACS Hillingdon International School. Michelle Eriksen, Lower School Principal

Working relationship: 19 years
“Sheena Anderson has been providing private occupational therapy for students at ACS Hillingdon International School since 2001. She has asked me to write a letter of reference for her and I am most pleased to do so.
Sheena assesses and provides therapy for students both in her clinic as well as in a specially-equipped room here at school. As an international school with students’ homes located all over Greater London, parents appreciate the convenience of having their child’s occupational therapy take place at the school. In addition, having Sheena present within the school allows for considerable two-way communication with our staff to better support students.
In the school setting, occupational therapy sessions address sensory processing issues, fine and gross motor skills and perceptual skills. Sheena understands how these areas impact students in the classroom and their daily lives. A strong student advocate, she readily shares her knowledge, understanding, and strategies with teachers and parents. Our school has implemented many of her suggestions for equipment, such as specialised cushions, Hokki stools, slant boards, and numerous pencil grips, which have greatly benefited our students. With Sheena’s guidance, our teachers have reinforced student specific strategies and incorporated additional practice of skills such as writing patterns. Sheena is knowledgeable and highly respected. She consistently stays current with the latest research and her advice is sought frequently. Sheena has a “no nonsense”, matter-of-fact approach and a clear communication style. Her work with students has made a significant personal and educational difference to each individual.
Sheena has led staff and parent workshops. An experienced, highly skilled therapist, I give Sheena Anderson my highest recommendation.”
